A Peek Behind the Making of #PEAK2018

A lot goes into creating an annual conference that keeps getting bigger and better every year, and PEAK Grantmaking’s 2018 conference is no different.

PEAK Grantmaking’s conference team–which includes our co-chairs, proposal reviewers, and staff—began reviewing session submissions in spring 2017, providing feedback on new topics that would interest our conference participants, as well as some old stand-by’s that our conference has come to be known for. Meeting the needs of every sector within grants management within a two-and-a-half-day conference is a tall challenge. PEAK Grantmaking aims to cover content that speaks to the vast majority of all grants managers no matter the size of your organization or the amount of grants you make annually.

Meeting the needs of every sector within grants management within a two-and-a-half-day conference is a tall challenge. PEAK Grantmaking aims to cover content that speaks to the vast majority of all grants managers no matter the size of your organization or the amount of grants you make annually.

In addition, PEAK Grantmaking’s education team has been tuned into the online Connect community, feedback from webinar and GM101 participants, and the topics that have trended over the last nine months among members. Paying attention to the pain points that have been discussed, along with the types of gaps in information that exist in the field, we’ve made a concerted effort to address these within our 2018 annual conference programming. Some topics rose to the level of a session and some are more appropriate as roundtable discussions. For those of you who are not familiar with our programming formats, roundtable discussions enable conference attendees to talk about various topics in a casual setting with their peers, sharing thoughts, strategies, lessons learned, or, in some cases, frustrations on a specific topic. PEAK Grantmaking’s conference team hopes that the amount of time, effort, and detail that was put into developing the educational sessions translates into an inspiring annual conference experience. You can review the conference agenda right now, plus we have additional educational programming announcements coming in the New Year. Stay tuned!

Traditionally, the first week in December is when PEAK Grantmaking opens annual conference registration. However, the 2018 Annual Conference registration has been open since late October. This year, we decided to open registration early, which in turn has offered a longer early bird registration rate timeframe that we hope conference registrants take advantage of. This also allowed us to separate session selection from the registration process, which is now more streamlined. All sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can use our handy conference app (coming soon!) to build your schedule and change it as you please.

Although we’ve opened registration early, we hope you don’t let time slip away. With the holidays upon us and the end of the year close at hand, we encourage everyone to register today to ensure you get the early bird rate while it’s available. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
