The Pivotal Importance Of Purposeful Philanthropy In The United States (Ed Crego and Frank Islam, HuffPost) President Trump’s “America First” federal budget proposes drastic cuts or the outright elimination of many programs that support the socially and economically disadvantaged; scientific and health research; education; and, the arts. If it is enacted in full, or in part, it will have a dramatic negative effect on this nation and many of its citizens.

Donors vs. Feds: Executive Order Sparks Interest in Immigration Related Groups (Mark Hrywma, The Nonprofit Times) The American Immigration Council (AIC) used to get about 10 unsolicited donations through its website each month. Lately, it’s been more like 10 per day. “People are coming to us just to give. That’s their first engagement with us. It’s something we’ve never seen in the past,” said Megan Hess, development director.

Legislating Gender Balance on Nonprofit Boards (Ruth McCambridge, Nonprofit Quarterly) The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a resolution on Wednesday that encourages nonprofits and businesses alike to have their boards of directors be 30 percent female at minimum by the end of 2020, measuring their progress toward greater gender balance yearly.
