Spending Bill Provides Bumps To Nonprofit Causes (NPT Staff, The Nonprofit Times) The federal government is funded, at least through September, as President Donald J. Trump signed a $1.3-trillion spending bill on Friday. The bill includes expenditures relating to health, family, and the arts, that impact nonprofits and the communities they serve.

Philanthropy in Sweden: Historical Legacies and Contemporary Opportunities (Lars Trägårdh, Center for Effective Philanthropy) Compared with most other Western countries, Sweden stands out for the relative absence of a strong philanthropic tradition, especially during the post-WWII period. Indeed, until recently “philanthropy” and “charity” carried distinctly negative connotations, emitting for many Swedes a faint odor suggesting practices that are old-fashioned and morally dubious.
