Blueprint for the Future

GMN is thrilled to share our new Blueprint for the Future, a 2014-2016 strategic plan that focuses on growing our value to members in the  evolving field of philanthropy. We know our members have impact on their organizations–they manage more than $50 billion in grant dollars! GMN has an ambitious plan to make sure those grant dollars are delivering great results by advancing how philanthropy happens through these grants management professionals.

GMN is investing in bold new efforts to maximize philanthropic impact by:

  • Advancing the knowledge and expertise of grants management professionals so they can lead their organizations to better outcomes.
  • Accelerating the adoption of proven practices that bring added effectiveness, efficiency and transparency to grantmaking.
  • Connecting grants management professionals and the organizations they represent so they can learn from peers and work together to advance the field.

With the engagement and support of our members and the grantmaking organizations they represent, GMN will move our 2014-16 blueprint to reality in two mission-driven ways: first, by meeting the learning needs of grants management professionals so they can achieve the core competencies required to expertly manage grantmaking; and, second, by identifying and promoting practices that get better results for funders and the organizations and initiatives they support.

We (the collective we) know that philanthropy is evolving. We (the GMN we) know that grants managers have a critical role to play in that evolution. Preparing them for the challenges and opportunities ahead while supporting field advancement through better practices and collaboration is what GMN does best, and will continue to do throughout the life of this blueprint and beyond.
