PEAK Grantmaking Hires New COO

PEAK Grantmaking Hires Dolores Estrada, of The California Endowment, as New COO

Washington, D.C. – (October 1, 2018) – PEAK Grantmaking, the only national organization dedicated exclusively to advancing how grants get made, announces that it has hired Dolores Estrada, formerly director of Grant Operations at The California Endowment, to serve as its new chief operating officer. Estrada starts today at the Washington, D.C.-based association of grants management professionals.

In her new role, Estrada will manage the association’s day-to-day operations—ensuring that members and funders receive timely responses to their inquiries and that staff have the resources they need to work successfully on behalf of members. Estrada also will oversee the efforts of PEAK Grantmaking’s Membership and Communications departments, as they engage more grants management professionals in improving grantmaking. In addition, she will lend her expertise to the development, implementation, and assessment of the association’s strategic plans.

“Dolores brings a passion for grantmaking and extensive, senior-level experience as a grantmaker to our team,” said PEAK Grantmaking’s Executive Director Michelle Greanias. “Her strong relationships across philanthropy, proven skill at managing multi-million-dollar budgets, and years of leading successful teams will be valuable assets in our work.”

Estrada is already familiar with the efforts of PEAK Grantmaking having served on its board for almost four years, starting in mid-2011. Prior to that, she was a member of the Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy board from 2004 through 2007.

Estrada comes to PEAK Grantmaking after nearly 20 years with The California Endowment. She worked her way up the foundation’s ranks from program assistant to program administrator, manager of Grants Administration and, finally, director of Grant Operations.

“I’m excited to apply my talents and energy to supporting the people and ideas focused on strengthening philanthropy across the country,” Estrada said. Estrada will continue to be based in the Los Angeles area, but will travel regularly and widely for her new responsibilities.
