Spark Talk: Operationalizing Grantee-Centric Practices (Grants Management Peer Experience)

In this installment of our Spark Talk series, Linda Gargiulo of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation will discuss how they are reexamining grantmaking practices through the lens of improving grantee experiences and staff effectiveness. Packard updated longstanding processes to incorporate best practices and strengthen funder-grantee partnerships, building on approaches that they put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reflecting on the past 18 months since rolling out the changes, Gargiulo will share their overall approach, challenges encountered, and key outcomes of their GMS reimplementation, which they refer to as their “grantsformation.” In this meeting, you will learn about key shifts made in processes, technology, data collection, and training including: streamlining the proposal process; reducing reporting burdens by shifting to a more relationship-centric approach; and building grantees’ financial resilience.
