The Gates Foundation’s Education Plans Go International (Stephen Sawchuk, Education Week) The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has announced a $68 million commitment to expand its education grantmaking abroad.

Arnold Foundation to Build $50M Philanthropic Research Fund to Study Gun Violence (Ruth McCambridge, NPQ) Laura Arnold of the Laura and John Arnold Foundation announced at a Forbes Forum on philanthropy that the foundation plans to build a $50 million fund to support gun violence research. The foundation itself will invest the first $20 million for the project, which will be called the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research.
