A Conversation With SURJ’s Ava Bynum (PEAK Accountability and Action for Allies Caucus)

Join our next meeting for a conversation with Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Development Director Ava Bynum on how philanthropy can show up in this moment in history and the ways that dominant cultural norms in foundations can shape how organizations are able to access resources. Bynum has spent over a decade organizing philanthropy around equity and justice, including leading workshops for foundation boards, coaching individuals around their giving, and raising money for social justice movements. In their current role, Bynum focuses on resourcing both SURJ’s work and the work of movement partners. They are passionate about supporting each person and organization to find meaningful, authentic, and generative ways to engage in social justice movements. This will be an engaging session with space for conversation and questions about how we can each make a difference from our unique social position.
