Roland Kennedy, Jr. (he, him, his), is director of grants management at the Carnegie Corporation of New York where he directs the grants management and data functions and supports board operations. Prior to joining Carnegie, he led special projects and operations and served as internal liaison at Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Greenwood Initiative. During his time there, he helped transform a set of presidential campaign policies into a new philanthropic program focused on economic justice for Black America. Prior to the Greenwood Initiative, Kennedy worked on Bloomberg Philanthropies’ grants team planning and operations function. His career experience is grounded in democracy funding in the US and abroad, included 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) grantmaking experience, focused on voting and elections, effective governance practices and accountability, economic justice, media and journalism, and peace and security.
