Landscape Analyses: Strengths, Successes and Shortcomings (PEAK Midwest)

Whether engaging in strategic planning, program development, or special projects, philanthropy is often eager to assess community needs, understand local challenges, and identify opportunities for deepened impact and new partnerships. A landscape analysis is one valuable method for data gathering and examination that can support these efforts and more.

In this session, hosted by the PEAK Midwest Chapter, we’ll explore the key components of a landscape analysis and review recent examples of analyses conducted by foundations. Together, we’ll also unpack common challenges with this approach and discuss how certain data-gathering activities can unintentionally run counter to trust-based philanthropic practices or perpetuate inequities.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and highlight lessons learned from their own landscape analysis efforts.
