Reducing Bias in Grantmaking (PEAK Rocky Mountain and EPIP Colorado)
Please join PEAK Rocky Mountain and EPIP Colorado for this collaborative event! We’ll start with a presentation by PEAK’s Programs and Knowledge Director Melissa Sines and follow with a panel of local funders sharing their experiences, lessons learned, and recommendations.
Melissa’s presentation will focus on driving racial equity, justice, and inclusion in philanthropic practice, with a special emphasis on connecting and sharing the steps we are taking in the philanthropic sector to embed anti-racism into our funding strategies, policies, and practices. Attendees will build a conceptual framework for intentionally embedding equity in our processes and have the opportunity to reflect on their own practices, ask key internal questions, and identify and reduce bias in their practice of philanthropy.
Our panel discussion, moderated by Monica Abrahams, EPIP Colorado, engages three Colorado-based funders who will discuss their experiences of reducing bias in philanthropy at their own organizations, sharing insights, lessons learned, and goals for continuing this work.
