Untangling Demographic Paradoxes for Funders (PEAK Florida)

Join us for an informative virtual session that is designed for funders at any stage of their demographic data collection journey. Collecting demographic data plays a crucial role in revealing the makeup of a nonprofit’s leadership and the communities it serves. However, asking nonprofits for this data can place additional strain on these organizations. In this session, you’ll hear from two PEAK Florida chapter members who will each showcase their foundation’s demographic data journey and share specific use-cases. In addition, we will explore the following topics:

  • How demographic data collection drives equity and increases transparency for both nonprofits and funders
  • Using best practices for requesting, collecting, and disseminating demographic data and how those align with the Principles for Peak Grantmaking
  • The importance of standardizing and looking at census data to help identify gaps in funding and inform grantmaking strategies
  • How to build a case and provide a rationale to your staff and board regarding the value of your foundation providing demographics
