Join members of PEAK Northern Plains in reading and discussing To Banish Forever: A Secret Society, the Ho-Chunk, and Ethnic Cleansing in Minnesota by Cathy Coats.

Coats' groundbreaking research uncovers a forgotten-yet-important episode of Minnesota state history following the US–Dakota War of 1862, when a group of white men formed a secret society and pledged to expel the Ho-Chunk people from the nearby Blue Earth reservation with the goal of claiming some of the richest farmland in the world for themselves.

All are welcome to participate in this informal online book discussion if you're interested in thinking about this important topic and its ongoing effect on the region and its communities today–regardless of whether you've read some or all of the book. This event is open to all and complimentary.
