The Fiscal Sponsorship Virtual Training Series with Social Impact Commons is a learning opportunity for funders to develop their knowledge and understanding of fiscal sponsorship policies, practices, and trends to fortify community-based organizations and efforts.

PEAK’s newest three-part training series, developed in partnership with Social Impact Commons, offers a deep dive into the evolving landscape of fiscal sponsorship, a critical tool for grants professionals and organizations committed to advancing community-based organizations and efforts. The three workshops are designed to equip funders with fundamental information on fiscal sponsorship policies, practices, and trends. The series will explore fiscal sponsorship considerations throughout the grant lifecycle and the legal, financial, and strategic support fiscal sponsors can provide community-based organizations during this challenging time for the sector.

Fiscally Sponsored Grantmaking Policies and Best Practices
Wednesday, April 23, 12:00–2:00 p.m. ET
Following a quick review of the basic sponsorship models, we’ll dive into policy and practice considerations specific to grantmakers, focusing on grants management. Grantmakers are reporting significant increases in the volume of fiscally sponsored grants, largely in response to the urgent need to support work centered on equity and social justice. While sponsored grants share similar considerations with conventional grants and nonsponsored projects, funders need to invest in orienting staff and adjusting policies and practices to be effective partners to sponsored projects. We will cover key fiscal sponsorship considerations over the whole arc of grantmaking: application design, review, and award management.

Supporting Social Justice as a Fiscal Sponsor
Wednesday, May 7, 1:00–3:00 p.m. ET
Fiscal sponsors are playing an increasingly important role in supporting and protecting social justice work amidst growing attacks on the institutions that underpin civil society. Sponsors can provide a degree of protection from challenges, as well as be a refuge for the work of stand-alone organizations that may come under assault. Through economies of scale and safety in numbers, sponsors can provide vital legal, financial, and strategic support to our most critical frontline work. This session will examine some of the emerging structures and practices that can help fortify our sector in an environment of accelerating challenges.
