Practice Meets Purpose

I have exciting news to share with you—Grants Managers Network is now PEAK Grantmaking! I am proud of this new name and what it means for our 20+ year-old network.

First, let me assure you that the network itself—3,400 strong as of this writing—is not changing or going anywhere. We are a member-centered organization of professionals sharing knowledge and expertise, and that will always be the case.

Second, I’d like to tell you about PEAK Grantmaking. As you know, philanthropy is changing every day. The areas we focus on—promoting effective grantmaking and educating grantmakers—are also evolving, in some cases very rapidly. We have a bold new strategic plan that provides us a visionary road map for building on who we are and what we do. PEAK Grantmaking aligns with the organization’s commitment to being aspirational and taking risks, and holds us accountable to the higher ideals we are espousing for philanthropy as a whole.  This plan also positions PEAK Grantmaking to better serve our members, who are leading change from within their organizations.

Today’s philanthropic landscape requires a bridge between issue and staffing silos to solve complex problems.  The success of the sector depends on the expertise of those who can pivot easily between a bird’s-eye view of philanthropy and the precision and practicality needed to manage detailed operations. With a strong grants manager on board, funders can reach the peak of their grantmaking!

Finally, I’d like to thank you for your enthusiastic support of Grants Managers Network over the years and of the work we do to lead the field to adopt grantmaking practices, advocate for practices and the profession, and educate grants management professionals to become experts in the field.

These are exciting times for PEAK Grantmaking.  As a critical member of our community, we hope you share our excitement about how this change will help to more boldly and persuasively promote the strategic value of grants management professionals and practices, and advance more accurate perceptions and understandings of both.
