Resourcing Communities: Place-based funders and fiscal sponsors
Organization Members Only
Community foundations see firsthand the challenges small yet impactful nonprofits routinely encounter in standing themselves up and maintaining their independent 501(c)(3) status. As a result, funders increasingly view fiscal sponsors as platforms for resiliency and sustainability for these groups. As public foundations strive to best support communities, serving as a fiscal sponsor, working better with sponsors, and supporting the development of fiscal sponsor capacity are emerging as mission imperatives. In this session, Social Impact Commons provides a brief overview of the different iterations of fiscal sponsorship along with field trends followed by an in-depth conversation with Melissa Adelman from the Oregon Community Foundation.
