PEAK Grantmaking Announces Leadership Transition

WASHINGTON, D.C. — PEAK Grantmaking, a leading organization of over 8,000 members and 500 organizations nationwide and dedicated to advancing effective, equitable grantmaking practices, today announced that Satonya Fair, JD has stepped down as President and CEO. A planned transition for PEAK’s CEO role has always been a pivotal part of the organization’s long-term vision for the future, and will build on the significant growth achieved during Satonya’s tenure. Some of the many accomplishments under Satonya’s leadership as PEAK’s President & CEO include:

  • Broadened PEAK’s brand and position as a national nonprofit
  • Established communities of practice and peer groups to complement geographic chapters
  • Expanded the knowledge and learning capacity and offerings for PEAK members
  • Grew the world class annual PEAK convening to record attendance
  • Increased PEAK’s influence in advocacy on behalf of the philanthropy sector
  • Increased the number of organizational and sustaining members

When Satonya was hired in 2020, she presented the Board of Directors with an ambitious strategic plan to grow PEAK’s membership, staff, and programming—all of which were accomplished. “We are incredibly grateful for Satonya’s leadership and the tremendous change and energy she brought to PEAK,” said Board Co-Chairs Josh Abel and Janet Disla. “Her vision and focus on strengthening our member community and expanding our learning programs have positioned PEAK for its next chapter. As we approach our 30th year, her contributions will be central to how we evolve and continue to deliver outstanding value to our members.”

The Board now begins the process of selecting new leadership to carry PEAK into the future through a strategic restructuring plan that ensures its continued sustainability and leadership in the philanthropic sector. In the meantime, the Board is in the process of selecting an interim executive leader, with an announcement planned for next week.
