Advancing Social Justice and Equity Through Fiscal Sponsorship

In this session, we will explore how fiscal sponsorship can be used to advance social justice and equity. We will begin by reviewing the most common models of fiscal sponsorship, including how and why they work. We will also discuss the challenges and questions that tend to arise for grantmakers working with fiscal sponsors, such as the proper identification of grantees and how to avoid earmarking. Ultimately, with this background, we will explore fiscal sponsorship’s role in making resources available to the communities and groups that are doing the work of advancing gender, racial, economic, and climate justice.
