Radically Rethinking the Application

Each of our foundations has recently re-examined and re-designed its application processes to increase access and drive equity. Surdna Foundation is accepting proposals written for other funders in lieu of its own application. McKnight Foundation removed an entire stage of its application process. MacArthur Foundation has eliminated its application for general operating support grants. Learn more about the changes we made and, most importantly, about the learning journeys and change management work that accompanied these redesign efforts. This is hard work! How did we stay focused on values and principles, how did we include grantee input, how did we manage resistance to change? What did we get wrong and what more is there to do? This interactive, conversational session invites attendees to learn, share, and evolve, sharing the ways in which they are radically rethinking the application and serving as change leaders in their own organizations.
