Looking Back at PEAK2024
Reimagining Philanthropy at PEAK2024
In March, more than 1,400 members of our community came together in Seattle and virtually for three days dedicated to reimagining philanthropy. We met in all kinds of ways—workshops, spark talks, world cafés, online discussions—to share ideas and our experiences within the sector. We connected with the Seattle community through acts of community service. And through the practice of emergent learning, and by leaning into our Learn, Share, Evolve Principle, we came away from PEAK2024 energized by ideas that revealed the possibilities for transforming the sector. We couldn’t have asked for a better celebration of our community and all that we can accomplish together!
Each day featured a keynote conversation that offered inspiration for how our community can reimagine the philanthropic sector through practices and mindset shifts that center and drive equity. We opened with a discussion on what the world would look like if philanthropy reimagined how it manifests its love of humanity. On the second day, sector leaders explored the strategies and tactics grants professionals can use to guide their organizations in recalibrating their approach to and doubling down on racial equity. And we wrapped with CEOs and grants management directors discussing how they have taken control of their professional development and careers to lead their organizations’ transformations.
We created spaces for attendees to gather and learn from each other in many different ways. Our receptions brought together different segments of our community from new members and GM101 participants to volunteers and board alums. Dine-arounds and the PEAK Café offered folks relaxed opportunities to connect and converse with staff and peers. All of our chapters, caucuses, and affinity groups met to network and learn. And attendees organized pop-up roundtables through the convening app to have focused discussions on top-of-mind topics.
We had fun by connecting with each other and our host city. On opening night, we held a reception at the Seattle Art Museum where attendees had an opportunity to connect with old friends, meet new ones, and enjoy a stunning collection that included works by Native American artists from across the Pacific Northwest. Some attendees took a trip to the Japanese American National Museum. But wherever folks were, be it in a breakout or somewhere out on the town, they shared their snapshots, insights, and most-loved moments on our social wall.
